P.N.R. Aims and Objectives

The overall plan for this area is to become an interesting area for everyone and the many forms of nature. In order to achieve this it is importanat to create, and then carefully manage and nurture the various areas, to provide a wide bio-diversity for its many inhabitants. Hopefully encouraging new and possibly rarer species to make it their home.

  • To create a managed landscape in which wildlife will thrive.
  • To encourage an interest and participation in the reserve from the local community.
  • To work with other local wildlife and conservation groups to include the reserve as part of wider environmental and conservation initiatives (e.g. the Baston, Langtoft and Thurlby Naturehood Group).
  • To provide a wildlife learning resource for all, including local schools.
  • To create a facility where the whole community can get close to nature, relax, enjoy the views and the environment.
  • Work with the neighbouring quarry to ensure a sustainable robust plan is in place to ensure site pumping and drainage is maintained in perpetuity, to guarantee future generations may experience and appreciate this fenland heritage.

In order to achieve these achievable aims we require the help from volunteers
