Overview of services provided by Langtoft Parish Council, LPC

Allotments

LPC  work in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council and the Langtoft Gardens & Allotments Association (LAGA) to provide an allotment plots to rent.

Bus Shelters

LPC have provided and maintain two bus shelters on Bourne Road on the main A15

Cemetery

LPC provide and maintain a cemetery located on Peterborough Road. The cemetery provides traditional burial spaces for the interment of human remains in coffins or urns containing ashes, Burial rights are available for purchase in either consecrated and un-consecrated ground and can be pre- purchased if required. Grave spaces are available for both residents and those living outside the Parish.

Clerk

LPC employs a part-time Clerk to be the Proper Officer of the Council and Responsible Finance Officer. The Clerk is the first point of contact for the Parish Council.

Community Events

LPC organises and takes part in a number of Community Events each year including :

  • The Annual Parish Meeting
  • Parish Walk – an annual walk around the footpaths in Langtoft Walk takes approx. 2 hours approx. 
  • The Remembrance Day Service – laying of 3 wreaths on behalf of the residents of the village.
  • Christmas Tree Festival – providing and erecting a Christmas Tree.
  • Christmas Tree and Carol Singing at the Crossroads, followed by a gathering in the Waggon & Horses.

Gardener / Handyman

LPC employs a part-time Gardener/Handyman who has responsibilities for the maintenance of the Cemetery, & Crossroads including the planters opposite the village shop.

Highways

LPC has a group of the Council dedicated to recommending appropriate actions on Highways matters. LPC’s Highway powers include:

  • Power to repair and maintain public footpaths and bridle-ways.
  • Power to light roads and public places
  • Provision of litter bins
  • Power to provide parking places for vehicles, bicycles and motor-cycles. Power to enter into agreement as to dedication and widening.
  • Power to provide roadside seats and shelters, and bus shelters.
  • Power to complain to district council as to protection of rights of way and roadside wastes
  • Power to provide traffic signs and other notices
  • Power to plant trees etc. and to maintain roadside verges

Information

  • LPC maintain and update three official Parish Noticeboards one located in Stowe Road at the corner of Truesdale Gardens, one at  the Crossroads and the other in East End by the playing fields, priority is given to the display of all official Parish notices. Community notices are displayed wherever space permits.
  • LPC co-ordinate the publication of the bi-monthly Grapevine newsletter.
  • LPC maintain and update a web site of information relevant to the working of the Parish Council and the Village.

Open Spaces

LPC provides and maintains two open spaces in the village: 

  • Black Bull Green, West End
  • East End Playing Fields

Both open spaces are inspected and cleared of litter regularly. Both areas have a range of play equipment with rubberised safety surfaces, which are installed and maintained to a high standard.

Planning

LPC is a consultee of South Kesteven District Council for planning related matters affecting the village. All Councillors are members of the Planning Group that deals with all issues relating to planning, however final Parish Council recommendations to SKDC are the responsibility of the Full Council. SKDC are the Planning Authority.

Seating

LPC installed seating on the Open Spaces and on the Highways, with the permission of the Highways Authority. Seats are currently provided:

  • At the Crossroads
  • In the cemetery
  • Inside and outside East End Playing Field
  • At the Black Bull Green Playing Field, West End
  • Opposite Manor Close junction
